How a debt collection case proceeds at Intrum

If your customer does not pay after a payment reminder, it may be time to take the next step - debt collection. The sooner you start the debt collection process, the more likely you are to get your money back.

When you pass the debt collection claim to us, we take care of all the recovery and communication with your customer. We consult with you along the way, and you can keep up to date via our online portal. Regardless of how many cases you have and whether the amounts are large or small, we can help you.

There are many factors that come into play in the processing of a case, such as:

  1. How old the debt is
  2. What have you done yourself
  3. Who your customer is

Whatever the factors involved, we have the expertise to handle the case in a way that yields the best results. The debt collection service consists of a range of activities - including letters, SMS, e-mail and telephone calls.

When Intrum receives an account, the data is reviewed and the customer's information is checked. We then use a number of means to make contact with the customer.

If it is not possible to enter into a dialogue with the customer, we will assess whether the case should continue in the monitoring process, proceed to a legal solution, or be closed. If the case stays in the monitoring phase, we will keep an eye on changes in your customer's finances, and when this improves, we will try to enter into a payment agreement.

In the vast majority of cases, we will also make sure that your customer is registered with credit information agencies.
